ON THE ISSUES

A Stronger Tomorrow For Tennessee!

For far too long, career politicians have said one thing with crossed fingers to get elected, then do the exact opposite once in office. I’m a man of my word. This is where I stand on the issues, and I’ll never waiver. I work for you, not special interests and the well-connected.

GOVERNMENT'S ROLE

I believe it’s beyond time politicians remember that our rights come from God, not themselves. With that vantage point, I believe that government should only do what it is constitutionally obligated to do and, when necessary, what the free-market cannot, or will not do.

CONSERVATIVE VALUES

Conservative values play an important role in the everyday lives of millions of families across our state. Rather than isolate or marginalize parents and their children, government should instead strengthen the role Tennessee families play in our state and uphold the values they inspire in our communities. Our leaders must recognize and defend the fundamental right to human life. I am proud of my fight for Tennessee families and the defense of the unborn.

ECONOMY

I firmly believe that you know how to spend your own money far better than politicians and bureaucrats do. I will always fight for the lowest possible tax rates to ensure you keep more of your hard-earned money.

If the Obama years have taught Tennesseans anything, it’s that the economy can’t recover until government steps out of the way and allows businesses to grow and start hiring people again.  Jobs have to come first, and our state must continue its efforts to protect job-creators from excessive taxation, unnecessary regulation, and predatory legal practices.  Simply put, a healthier business climate attracts more employers to our state and increases the standard of living for both workers and their families.

HEALTHCARE

Over the past several years, Tennesseans have seen the costs of their health insurance premiums skyrocket due to Obamacare. Seniors are having a harder time paying for the care and medications they need, and people everywhere are being forced to accept these higher costs as Obamacare continues to destroy our country’s entire healthcare system. What Tennesseans need is not another government mandate or take-over of health care, but rather a vast reduction in health care costs, making medical treatment more accessible and affordable again. In order to reduce the cost of healthcare, government must cease its meddling in the industry, and the relationship between doctor and patient must be restored free from the hindering interference of frivolous lawsuits.

IMMIGRATION

While Tennessee has always welcomed the best and brightest minds from around the world to legally move within our borders, the negative effects of illegal immigration cannot be ignored. Our economy and our society cannot afford to provide benefits to those who have shown no regard for the laws of our country and state.

EDUCATION

Recent reforms in Tennessee’s education system have led to our schools seeing a remarkable jump in national standings. In fact, Tennessee is the fastest improving state in the nation when it comes to education. However, we must ensure recent gains in education are maintained and enhanced. As a parent and grandparent, I understand the need to reinvigorate our education system and equip students with the tools and training needed to compete in today’s job market. Ensuring Tennessee’s students graduate high school adequately prepared for college and a fulfilling career must be a top priority.

I am committed to enacting conservative, fiscally prudent solutions to give every student access to quality educators and every parent more choice in their child’s education.

THE CONSTITUTION
  • The First Amendment is constantly under attack from those who wish to control speech they deem “hateful”. I will stand against misguided politically correct culture to defend all speech, especially speech I find offensive, as this type of speech is the foundation upon which our Founders’ wrote the 1st Amendment.
  • The Second Amendment expressly guarantees each and every lawful American citizen the right to keep and bear arms. Regardless of the attempts to restrict gun rights by overzealous politicians, I will always guard law-abiding Tennesseans’ right to own firearms.
  • The 10th Amendment mandates that powers not enumerated to the federal government via the Constitution are reserved for the States to decide. The Constitution only enumerates a couple dozen responsibilities to the federal government, but they don’t seem to care because they’ve taken upon themselves to grant limitless control over virtually every aspect of American life to the federal government. This is not what our Founders intended, and I will work tirelessly to reclaim power for the State of Tennessee, where it belongs.
  • I will always uphold my oath to defend and protect the state and federal constitutions.
